Teaching be Crazy or Institutional Insanity

Institutionalization is a funny thing. Sometimes it connects people that would not ordinarily meet. Sometimes you see things that are shielded from the rest of society. At the end of the day, I guess it helps to weigh stresses and extremes and possibly recognize how normal we are. After all, we see normal as a comparison to the extremes of our experiences. The following excerpts are entertaining events that have helped to evolve my current perspective. Of course, the names have been changed and the location or name of any of the particular school or schools is of no consequence. While the experiences are abnormal, I use the term institutionalized and insanity liberally. It sounds better than abnormal stuff in my teaching career.
